Corylus a. 'Red Majestic'

Corylus avellana Contorta 'Red Majestic' (Red Corkscrew Hazel) is a decidious striking red form of the contorted hazel.

Planted in a moist, well drained soil in sun or semi shade it will grow to 2.5m and is eminently suitable for smaller gardens.

For flower arrangers too as it features red nuts and red catkins!

Notcutts Nurseries showed this amazing new hazel at Chelsea Flower Show 2004.

It's a cross between the purple leaf Corylus and C. contorta which has twisted stems. It even has purple catkins and purple nuts.
